HomeMy WebLinkAboutApproved Minutes - 1989-07-13 PALISADES PATHWAY SUMMARY OF PUBLIC MEETING July 13 , 1989 Jerry Baker , City of Lake Oswego Traffic Engineer gave an introduction. This area has a potential for 110 students walking along Greentree to Palisades School . The objectives of the Pathway Master Plan are 1. First public meeting , before engineering ; 2 . Second publict meeting , after engineering ; 3. Pathway hearing body to accept or refine the Plan ; 4 . Construction bid awarded ; and 5. Complete the process . The Pathway map shows the corridor plan. PUBLIC INPUT Rena Smith felt the pathway should be extended. She brought several children to demonstrate the need . John Foster , Chair of Palisades Parents' Advisory Committee : • 1. Pathway and bus system are being developed together . 2 . Depends on where the children are coming from. 3. The new bus route will be out Monday . Comment : All the people on the north side are going to put a sidewalk on that side . Historical background : In 1973 LID . During development , developer gave a park in lieu of pathways . There was an active committee . Lowenberg ' s were going to be assessed $ 13, 000 . Why wasn ' t the sidewalk completed? Estimated cost of proposed pathway is $ 30 , 000 - $35, 000 . Concern for safety of children walking . Where the proposed pathway is going . Greentree is the widest. Question : What is an LID? Hearing date August 3 , 1989 . Bidding process to contract by August 15 . One gentlemen asked if the process could be stopped . Jerry Baker said yes, if enough neighbors sign a petition .
