Roll Call In attendance: Gene Mildren (Chair),Jack Hoffman(City Council), Gene Schmidt(Community School), Rick Wilson(Swim Club), Brian Lind (LO Youth Football), Pete Ebert(LOSC), Fred Schreyer (LO Little League), Tom Swinford (Waluga Little League). Staff present included Doug Schmitz, Chris Jordan, Kim Gilmer, Bob Kincaid, Kay Kinyon, Gary Evans and Jody Nave (City of Lake Oswego). Chuck O'Leary(Waluga Park proposed improvements)and Dave Powers also attended. Excused absence: Brian Heinze, Mike Coulson, and Steve Dodds • 2002 calendar year attendance, as requested by the committee: Member Organization Rep. High School 1 for 1(3 ex.) 1000 (New blood, shows promise) Swim Club 2 for 4 .500 (Back on active duty) L.O. Youth football 4 for 4 1000 (Hits the ball hard) L.R. Youth football 2 for4 .500 (Good performer) LR Junior Baseball 0 for 4 .000 (Hasn't shown for Spring training)) LO Junior Baseball 1 for 4 .250 (In a slump) Community Schools 2 for 3(1 ex.) .500 (League of his own) • • II. Approval of Feb 11,2002 Minutes Minutes approved with no corrections. III Open Public Communications George Rogers Master Plan discussion. Next open house is scheduled for March 21, 2002, at 6:30 pm at City Hall. Gene encouraged all members to attend and provide input. There was concern about the possibility of total fields being reduced from two to one. Craig Dewey announced again that there are openings on PRAB and encouraged TSAC members to apply. Gene Mildren expressed an interest but would like a TSAC member to come forward to Chair TSAC. Pete Ebert distributed a letter to TSAC members, from the Lake Oswego Soccer Club to the Team Sports Advisory Board, expressing concerns about the quality of City field construction projects. Bob Kincaid addressed the City's position. After considerable discussion the following motion was placed by Pete Ebert and seconded by Brian Lind: The City should evaluate/reevaluate the design plans for field improvements at Westridge and Lake Grove and determine whether they are satisfactory for year round, long term • use prior to awarding the contract for their repair. It was asked that this be put on the agenda for the next Parks& Recreation Advisory Board meeting. IV. General Business A. Parks & Recreation Strategic plan. Was delayed to a future meeting, awaiting information from the consultant, MIG. B. Capital Project shopping list 1. No new projects submitted C. Agenda items for March 11,2002 meeting 1. TSAC Mission Statement review 2. Strategic plan update. 3. LOSC letter follow up. V. Meeting was adjourned at 8:20 PM • Next meeting April 8.
