II. Approval of June 11, 2001 Minutes
•
Minutes approved with the following additions: Pete Ebert had asked that the City address the
possibility of trading some Rosemont/Stafford City owned property for the Hunt Club property.
Gene Mildren had also mentioned that his conversation with the Church was positive and that
use of the grass open space would be considered.
III Open Public Communications
Gene Mildren asked about the progress on the Parks & Recreation Master Plan. There was no
update to offer and Gene will pursue with Doug Schmitz.
Dave Powell gave an update on the situation that led to the closing of the two artificial turf
fields. The City's testing of compaction on both fields showed unacceptable levels for safe use.
Both fields have been recently"deep groomed"in an effort to reduce the GMAX levels to
recommended ASTM and CPSC standards and results will be available late this week or next
week. Litigation with Field Turf(Manufacturer) will continue.
Gary informed Committee of a Park Maintenance concern. Someone shut off all irrigation to
the Waluga Park Little League field. City will have to double up on watering to help fields
recover.
