Past Chair As we predicted, the Engineering department's assessment and analysis report shows a decrease of Jim Newcomer traffic counts and speeds over the years. An Origin-Destination Travel Study info is indeed Rat Russell difficult to draw any conclusions mainly because choosing to travel down Quarry Road leads to a park,a school,a grocery store and other commercial/retail businesses. However, when service Carol Lavender levels exceed the acceptable amounts due to present and future surrounding developments on Carman Drive,Kruse Way and Meadows Road, drivers will always take the path of least Mark Smith resistance:Quarry Road. Katherine Purtzer Waluga Neighborhood Association has been extremely diligent in seeking traffic calming devices and measures for Quarry Road to remind drivers that they are actually traveling through a Board Members residential neighborhood. We will take credit with the help of our diligent Traffic and Police at Large liaison,Dick Benedetti,by regular meeting with the LO Traffic Engineer and Police.Over the Dick Benedetti years we've seen the installations of four way large stop signs, speed bumps, prominent striping for Andrea Platt pedestrian safety and at crosswalks, increased caution signage, more landscaped pathway strips and frequent police patrols. And we look forward to the installation of a speed feed-back sign on Leslie Morgan Quarry Road with the help of the Boones Ferry Road Improvement Project. We have also met with and sought advice from the Transportation Advisory Board(TAB)chair,Rick Nys,by giving a presentation to TAB to gain their support and help with funding on three CIP/TSP projects that have been on the list for years. After that meeting,Erica Rooney was quick to point out that the projects we requested funding for were actually smaller projects and that she would follow up with us to help us get these projects funded and completed. Thus far, this has not happened. The Planning Department recommends no action at this time in response to our letter. Therefore we would also recommend that no amendments be made to the present code relating to Traffic Management Requirements for Specific Areas(LOC 50.02.002.2d).The City staff and the Development Review Commission should seriously consider the need for mitigation with any future development application in our area regardless of the required Traffic Impact Analysis(TIA)by developers.Examples of major developments coming up in the future for us are: • Shorenstein's Kruse Oaks IV on Meadows Road for 140-170 apartments • Avery proposal to change zoning on a Park and Natural Area(PNA)property to Campus Research& Development(CR&D)for a mixed use at the Kruse Way and Carman Drive intersection • 12 single family homes on Waluga Drive and Parkhill Road • 3 new additional single family homes on Quarry Road. Don't forget The Springs Living Retirement facility and their neighbor, the CenterCal development across the Kruse Way that will add 437 living units,50,000 sf of additional commercial and retail space, plus staffing and visitors! Thank you very much, Waluga Neighborhood Board and Board Members at Large Cc: Scot Siegel,Erica Rooney
