The golf course is unique, it's location so close to our downtown also making it irreplaceable and once it is reduced from development it will eventually no longer exist. A nine hole golf course is not viable especially with the added traffic, activity and noise. Our municipal golf course is part of the history of the area it is one of the assets that make the city a desirable place to live. We wonder why it would even be considered to take away a unique community asset one that's accessible to all ages and incomes when we don't need to. I think that as a community we can make a choice going forward to preserve what we have and make more of an effort to find a location that will build community rather than divide as the Safeco property did. A place for activities that all community members now and in the future could have with no regret from taking from what we had been given from our city leaders and community in the past. When we voted for improving our recreational opportunities with the recent bond measure we had no idea that our financial support of our community that we would be giving up something we feel is very important to retain. We have school age children and would welcome a pool but not at the expense of losing our communities 18 hole golf course. Do we really want a giant recreational facility. A facility that droves of people need to come to from all the neighboring communities to support the ongoing expense of operating a facility of this size? My family has lived in Lake Oswego since the early 50s, we have welcomed most changes but now it seems we have turned the wrong direction and that some changes are now taking away what made this city so unique and desirable. We are heading in a direction that will make this city become like every other. Golf courses throughout the country that are close within the city limits are being lost to the pressure of development, we believe we should not allow this for our public course as we should keep this treasure for future citizens of our city. Things to consider. The Rassekh Property would be more appropriate as we retain our irreplaceable golf course which is an affordable activity for all age groups. The community wants a pool so let's take a bit more time to do it right in a location everyone will be satisfied. This can be done while preserving the unique asset the 18 hole public course we have as a community enjoyed for many years. Maybe we should consider a pool at both Lakeridge and Lake Oswego high schools or a combination of HS and the new middle school. Having an additional pool would allow much more available time for all. As the Stafford Road area gets more development the traffic will become a major concern. Has the city and parks & School District considered Uplands or Palisades for a pool and or recreational site? Do we need to have the pool and recreational center at the same site? The city is planning a hotel with the B Avenue redevelopment and the 18 hole golf course would be an attraction for those visiting not only the hotel but the new event center that is soon to open. We have an obligation to retain our community assets, unique character and history. Please preserve our 18 hole Municipal Golf Course. Thank you for your consideration, The Meckel Family First Addition i
