From: Philip Stewart To: Heape, Robert Cc: Siegel,Scot; McCaleb,Iris Subject: FW:Thank You For Joining the Modern Middle Housing Virtual Tour Date: Sunday,July 26,2020 1:21:45 PM Attachments: imaae001.onq Moden Middle Housing Tour Projects.pdf Hi Rob— Earlier this month, I joined a webinar to tour examples of local projects that could be qualified by the state to be 'Middle Housing' through the current rule-making process. I feel like some of these could work locally while a couple of others are probably too ambitious. I would like to circulate that attachment to members of the Planning Commission if that is okay. Thanks. Philip L. Stewart, NCARB President PSA Inc. 503.616.1936 From: Ara Hirst<AraH@hbapdx.org> Sent: Friday, July 24, 2020 12:39 PM To: Ara Hirst<AraH@hbapdx.org> Cc: Ezra Hammer<EzraH@hbapdx.org>; Rebecca Small <Rebecca.Small@oregonmetro.gov> Subject:Thank You For Joining the Modern Middle Housing Virtual Tour Good Afternoon, Thank you for joining us for the first Modern Middle Housing Virtual Tour. We hope you found the content useful and informative and encourage our jurisdictional partners to consider the opportunities and challenges highlighted in the Tour as they craft HB 2001 implementation ordinances. Middle housing is a vital tool that will help our region grapple with the housing crisis through the legalization of both for-sale and rental small scale housing. A 2018 report highlighted the critical underproduction of housing, which is causing significant pressure on the housing market throughout Oregon. Additionally, recent work has demonstrated that neighborhoods have dramatic impacts on children's upward mobility and probability of economic success. Middle Housing can help open up our existing and new neighborhoods to a diverse set of people and help ensure that more Oregonians succeed. You can find a video of the Tour here. Additionally, please see the attached handout that highlights the developments and developers who were featured in the Tour. Thank you again for joining us and learning about middle housing.
