HomeMy WebLinkAboutG-501 Meyers 07-10-2023 From: Kate Myers To: Planning Mailbox; Davis, Ellen Subject: Opposition to LU 23-0002 proposed sewer extension Date: Monday,July 10,2023 11:18:20 AM CAUTION: This email originated from outside your organization. Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders. Hello Ms. Davis and City Planners: I have read Carolyn Kreb's well researched letter and cannot offer a better explanation of my objections beyond her commentary. To make my comments succinct: 1 - Very disappointing that the developer was not required to hold the typical pre-application meeting with neighbors prior to getting to this point in the project. 2 - Our neighborhood overlay, and the City's own policies, call for protection of trees and pathway ways. This sewer extension proposal seems completely at odds with that. 3 -Neighbors have extensive lived experience with the challenges of water mitigation in this area which seem to be getting disregarded. 4 - The Developer has not made their case in the proposal as to why this proposed sewer pathway is the best option when other sewer options seem more viable (Tara Place and Bailene). If they are not more viable, then perhaps the City needs to look at what role they could play to make it more viable to avoid the wetlands. The entire burden does not need to fall on the developer-the City is not powerless to impact this. 5 - The viability of increased hardscape and potential backfill on these lots is questionable to me. I don't see how several of these lots could possibly mitigate their water impact on the wetlands and surrounding neighbors. Please open up lines of communication with the neighborhood and deny this sewer pathway through the wetlands until a suitable alternative has been reached. Thank you, Kate Myers 5750 Carman Drive (backs to Bailene) Lake Oswego, OR 97035 503-753-2577
