HomeMy WebLinkAboutG-517 Wheeler 08-02-2023 From: CW To: Davis, Ellen Subject: Proposed development on the corner of Kimball and Baleine Date: Wednesday,August 2,2023 11:15:11 AM CAUTION: This email originated from outside your organization. Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders. Dear Ellen, As you are the listed staff coordinator, I am writing to you as a community member regarding the following concerns for the proposed development on the corner of Kimball and Baleine: • Developing 5 residential properties on wetlands. It would appear the developer is maximizing the residential houses they are able to build and sell vs preserving the integrity and sanctity of the neighborhood which is characterized by smaller houses with larger lot sizes, maintaining trees and natural pathways. • Destruction of 43 trees. The Lake Forest neighborhood has seen significant deforestation for the sake of new development in the very recent past. Our neighborhood namesake is quickly losing its defining feature along with its trees. Losing the oak forest would lead to: increased noise pollution from the 5 freeway and carmen drive, increased effects of climate change, increased car traffic through the neighborhood with added/completed through streets, decrease in safe walking pathways through the neighborhood impacting quality of life of the residents, and decrease in wildlife habitat. • The proposed sewer line through class 2 wetlands. As this property does not belong to the developer and the city has delegated the area as a "delineated resource protection district", it would stand to reason there should be NO development through the area to continue to protect the wetlands as intended. Thank you for your time and consideration, Crystal Wheeler
