Dear Ellen,
While walking through the neighborhood of Lake Forest, my daughter and I came across the
notice LU 23-0002, stating the city's intent to take down 43 trees for the development of five
new homes. While the removal of trees saddens us greatly, this endeavor would also strip our
neighborhood of the beauty Lake Oswego is prized for, as well as the cooler temperatures
offered by the trees.
The wooded path connecting Kimball Street and Inverurie Road has offered neighborhood kids
a source of healthy recreation for the past 18 years that we've lived in the neighborhood. It
provides our neighborhood a safe and calming haven for dogs and citizens alike. This is one of
the few greenspaces left in our neighborhood and is home to a wide variety of wildlife.
For this reason, we believe that replacing our remaining forests with 5 crowded homes is not
fair to those who treasure and use the area on a daily basis, especially without our consent.
Please take the health of our neighborhood into consideration before making any
hurtful decisions to destroy our last remaining natural spaces.
Sincerely,
Alison and Sienna Heath
