Minutes of,the previous meeting read -and approved. - Harold Wells of Oregon City asked Council's permission to haul out timber he had purchased on Block Don Oak St. Moved by Hughes, seconded by Worthington that he be given pemnission to remove timber al'.qques , r i i3. he tirni bond in the amount of $500.00 to guarantee that after completing a haul ng (maximum of 120 working days) he would be certain that condition of Oak Street ` was in as good condition as it is at present. Red McVey asked if there was a curfew law in Oswego. Mr. Hammond advised that our Ord. No. 188 provided for this. After being studied by the Lighting Committee and in due consideration to price and delivery on all bids which were presented to the Council at their meeting Jan. 8th, it was moved by Papulski that the bid of Webb Electric Co. (Carl T. He'llis, owner) be accepted for the street lighting matter as outlined in their complete bid: lump sum quotation for first six -items of'$4610.00 (delivery 110 days), 1200' #8 RC Duplex 600 V --$206.40; and•20,000' #4 ACSR Aluminum wire -4330.60, totalling $5,147.00. Motion seconded by Hughes, and passed unanimously. Ord. No. 437 changing names of certain streets in -Oswego: (Market Rd. No. 1.2 from South City limits to Oak St., and Old County Road from Oak St. to.State Street be changed to McVey Avenue, and that that part of Market Road No. 12 from Oak St: to Pacific Highway No. 4 3' be changed to Hughes- Ave., and that Cedar St. from McVey Ave. West be changed to South Shore Road) was read for the first time. Read second time by title only. Moved by Papulski, seconded by_Rogers that the ordinance be accepted as read. Papulski, Rogers, Hughes, Wilson, Bender voted."yes", Worthington voted "no". The matter will be carried over until next meeting. Phil Hammond reported that he had no definite word from Paul Murphy regarding any progress on the Sewage Treatment Plant right-of-way. He will endeavor to contract Mr: Murphy again tomorrow. Mr. Hammond also reported that he was still working on the Ordinance Book -- removing obsolete and repealed ordinances. Recorder was asked to supply authorization for Mr. Dormer as requeBsted..�y�Ulegram received by him from the NPA. Red McVey inquired as to the feasibility of City using their own property adjacent to the Park for a Sewage Plant site in the event city is unable to secure right-of-way to the property being considered for the location. Mr. Dorner advised that this course would be more expensive, since trunk line would have to be extended to that property, and also that such a plant cannot be set up within 500 ft. of residential area. Mr. Dormer reported that he has had no official word from the San Francisco office of the Southern Pacific Co..regarding his preliminary drawing for "jacking pipe" under their tracks in the vicinity of "B" Ave. Moved by Rogers, seconded by P auplski that Chief Thornton be granted time and $10.00 expenses to attend the Portland F.B.I. finger print school to be held in Portland between Jan. -28th and Feb. -2nd, Chief Thornton reported that the Planning Commission had reeommendedA increase in solicitor's license fee. After considerable discussion Mr. Bender suggested that the matter be referred back to Planning Committee for further study, and for report at next council meeting. Moved by Rogers, seconded by Hughes that the Recorder•be instructed to sign maintenance contract with the Burroughs. Adding Machine Co..for the year 1952. Motion passed unanimously. Moved by Hughes, seconded by Papulski that Geo. Rogers be given authority to go-ahead with planting of shrubs in Park,around old furnace:, Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Papulski was asked to contact,School Board No. 47 to see.if any agreement can be reached regarding property..owned by.them which the city- wishes to acquire. Moved by Hughes seconded by Rogers that permission be.granted.to Chief. Montgomery to send his two assistants to the Inspector's School at -the Portland -Fire Station on Tues. and Thurs. nights commencing Jan. 22nd for•three-weeks... Motion carried unanimously. -- Moved by Worthington, seconded by Hughes that Recorder be instructed to issue .warrants to cover the.bills-for December, 1951., as approved by the Finance Committee.
