Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. Petition _for annexation to -the city.was filed -by Lou Lavacheck, representing Oregon Iron,& Steel Co. and their attorney,. Mr. Hanley.. The petition was signed -by all property owners of an area adjacent to the North city limits, identified by de- -tailed legal description,and by. map. The matter will receive:study and.considera- tion by the. Council.. Council gave Mr. Ed Robinson permission to park his trucks in the alley rather than to allow a parking zone in front of his place.of business on "A",.Ave., as he requested. Ray Preston and Mr. and Mrs. Arneson asked the Council for relief from the parking of cars in front of their homes on North Shore Road. This congested condition is caused by people who are fishing in that area. The matter was referred•to the Police Committee and Chief Thornton for study and recommendation. Moved by Hughes, seconded by Papulski that Joe Nemec be granted permission to attend the 14. W. Water Works Convention at Spokane April 24th & 25th, and Chief Thornton allowed to attend the Juvenile Council at Eugene the 3rd and 4th of April. Passed unanimously. Street Committee was asked to get estimates on repairing the Chevrolet Pickup. -� Chief Montgomery reported that County Health Department will confer with t Pollution authorities regarding the sawdust and cement dust situation and !_ submit report to the Council. tf a Air Will Chief Montgomery reported that the property on Berwick Road described by Mr. Tom Moulton in his letter of March 29th to the Council as a serious fire Hazard and { asked that the matter be given immediate attention. Moved by Wilson, seconded -E by Hughes t at �he Recorder be instructed to write a letter to the property owner Dr� , Warren, requesting that this property be cleaned up within thirty days or this work would be done by the city and the cost charged to the owner, in xa> accordance with Ord. No. 396. Motion passed unanimously.. r Street Committee reported that they had accepted the low bid in the amount of +F P Truck(Dodge). $4016.31 for the 21 Ton Dump ;.f a Moved by Rogers, seconded by Wilson that the amount of $75.00, representing two F;R'f years assessments(due)be paid to the Lake Oswego Corporation. Rogers, Papulski, P::; Hughes and Wilson voted "yes"; Worthington voted "no". Motion carried. Mayor Needham appointed Tom Moulton and Ted Gilbert to the Budget Committee to replace Walter Reisner and Geo. Emrich whose terms expired this month. Appoint- , l ments confirmed by Council, and Recorder was asked to write letters asking if these two men would be willing to serve on this committee, i a i Applications for swimming 'instructor and lifeguard for Swim Pool for the coming summer were considered. Moved by Papulski, seconded by Rogers that Audrey Campbell 1 t' be notified that her application for swim instructor had been accepted. Passed ! unanimously. Council agreed that Bob Austin be placed on monthly payroll as of April 1st at monthly salary of $275.00, half of this amount to be charged to the StreeDe- partment and half to the Water Department. plant City Attorney and City Engineer reported that they had discussed the sewage/site property with Mr. Myers and his attorney Mr. Tatra and had asked them to make their proposition in the alternatives•$ stating on what terms they would sell all .of the property and` on, what terms -they would sell portions of the property: Recorder was instructed to' return- surety bond to Harold Wells since' he. has fin- ished the hauling of logs over Oak St., and complied with the request of the Street Committee to repair road. Chief. Thornton ' was authorized to hire -D T : M^atgQmoM• at hourly rate ( based on monthly salary) to replace police officer in case of illness., Police Department and Fire Department reports were -read and approved.
