Regular meeting of the Council called to order by Mayor Needham. Worthington,
Rogers, and Bender absent.
Minutes of'predious meeting read, corrected and approved.
Permission granted to Mr. Schwartz, representing Seventh Day Adventist Church,
to solicit in Oswego.for funds. for their. work.
Council agreed to lay sewer pipe 190' to property of,C. M. Ellington, who is
building new home in Forest Hills (Lot 287), if he would bear expense of trench-
ing and backfilling, and providing our city engineer confirms the fact that
the enure -house -is -situated inside city limits.
Walter Herdt and his contractor, Leo Wynans, were penalized -1double building
permit ($24.00) for not securing building permit before construction of house
at 1308 Cedar St.
City Attorney was instructed to revise city Building 'Code Ord. to provide th at
building permit not be given until business license, sewer permit and charge
for water meter be collected; ° also, that copy of building permit be displayed
in conspicuous place on buildings under construction.
Police Department are to check closely on new building and to report to the
�- Recorder's office any without permit being displayed.
Street Committee reported that Marvin Fredricks would work on Chevrolet Pickup
at $1.50 per hour. Council agreed that he should put it in good mechanical
condition.
.Moved by Hughes, seconded by Papulski that Recorder be instructed to issue
'warrants to cover the.bills for March as approved by the Finance Committee.
"City Engineer presented easement maps and description of five properties in-
volved (with exception of S.P. who are preparing their own) for storm sewer
;under railroad tracks in the _vicinity of OB" Ave., and recommended that city
attorney prepare easements. He also advised that N.P.A. had approved materials
-requested for sewage treatment plant,
County Sanitarian to be advised.that city does not have necessary funds to
assist with mosquito control work for this area.
Letter to be written to Curtis M. Everts, Secretary of Air Pollution, 1400 SW 5th,
Portland, for survey of local cement dust and sawdust condition.
Chief Montgomery called to Council's attention that smoking is being allowed
in the balcony of the Lake Theater and.considered this dangerous. Matter re-
ferred to City Attorney for study and recommendation.
Moved by Hughes, seconded by Wilson that application of Rocco (Rocky) DeBellps
to the Volunteer Fire Dept. be accepted. Motion passed unanimously.
