LAW OFFICES HAMMOND & HAMMOND P. O. BOX 606 MCINTYRE BUILDING OREGON CITY. OREGON November 18, 1952 At your request I have checked the records of City of Oswego and of the County of Clackamas to determine which roads within the City of Oswego that were originally county roads have been taken over by the City of Oswego and which of said roads remain county roads. From such records find the following: _ TELEPHONE 5283 the I Market Road No. 12 ( commonly known as Stafford Road) is a county road. The count road starts at the westerly side of Oregon' State Highway No, 43 near the south end of the Oswego € Creek Bridge and. runs southwesterly to the south boundary. of the Cit of -Oswe o_ over a course now designated b the Cit of y` g r- .,_ g y y Oswego as. -Real"r, .,Oak Street, and McVey Avenue. 111Cue, e road designated on the current maps of the City of Oswego as "Old County Road": and formerly known as "Oswego and Germantown Road" is a city street. This.road has its easterly --terminus at the westerly- side line of State Street (Oregon State Highway No. 43) and runs. southeasterly from . a point near the. Oswego Swim across the bridge near the dam at the outlet to Oswego Lake to Market Road No.. 12 above referred to, at the southerly boundary..of Block -40, South Oswego. This road was formerly a county road, but was surrendered by Clack- smas County to the ' City of - Oswego and accepted ;by the City of Oswego by Ordinance No. 168 of the City of Oswego and. order of the County Court entered in Commissioners Journal, Volume 29 at page 432. That portion'of River Road (Henry Gans Road), which lies within the city of Oswego is part of- county road No, 842. The county road extends to the south side of Oswego Creek. All of"A" Avenue and Country Club Road -from "A" Avenue to the ..west city limits of Oswego are city streets, _Market Road No. 31 is a county road from the west city limits of Oswego ,extending westerly. That part of Iron Mountain Boulevard (sometimes referred to as "Chandler Road") extending westerly.from the west end of "A" Avenue to the westerly boundary of the city of Oswego at a point between tracts -'72 and 203 of the plat of Forest . Hills, is a city street, The remainder- of. Iron Mountain Boulevard ex- tending southwesterly from the above.mentioned point, is a county road, although a 'small portion of it runs again through the city of Oswego. This portion which reenters the city of Oswego was surrendered to Clackamas County by Ordinance 296. It will be noted that South Shore Road (County road No. 1680) -appears to enter.the City of Oswego, however, the records of the Surveyor -f s Office of Clackamas County seem to indicate that such county road stops at the west boundary of Oswego Heights, so that none of such county road is within the city of Oswego. There- fore the easterly extension' of South Shore Road, which is designated on the map of the City of Oswego as "Cedar Street" is a city street from the west boundary of the City of _ Oswego to the westerly side- line of Market Road No. 12. Neither the records of the City of Oswego nor the County of Clackamas appear to disclose any county roads within the city other _ than those indicated above, I am however, sending a copy of this letter to the County Surveyor with a request that if the records of his office appear to differ with the above report, he will advise us, PKH :mr r n o Cfiam9e-'z of comme-TeE •OSWC(;O, OREGON • Box II2._ Oswego City Council, Oswego.
