What would you like to see the City Council consider in their 2026 goal setting session?*
I would love to see the expansion/prioritization of bike-enabling infrastructure and practices! Especially the
addition of bike lanes whenever possible,a higher frequency of the cleaning of all bike lanes after winter storms
(downed tree branches are the worst, and always end up shoved out to the side of the road,e.g.the bike lanes),
and the inclusion of smart signals capable of recognizing bikes at stop lights.Currently I bike in the road a lot up
in the hills around mountain park, where most of the stop lights react to those pressure pad circles, and my bike
and I do not weigh enough to trigger them, which leads to me awkwardly signaling the car behind me(if I'm lucky
enough for there to be one there at all)to move up closer behind me as I pull into the crosswalk,so they trigger
the pads....or me crossing lanes of traffic there at the signal to go press the pedestrian cross button. Neither
option's ideal.
Oh,and I highly support the inclusion of EV charging stations whenever possible in public spaces!!! Parks,
libraries, community gardens, concert halls, shopping centers-I think it makes sense to have charging stations
available anywhere people spend 20+minutes at a time, and I love that there are some at the LORAC!Thanks
for that.
