The Lake Oswego City Council will hold its annual goal setting retreat on Saturday, February 21,2026 beginning at 9 a.m.
in Council Chambers at City Hall. In preparation,the City Council would like to hear from the community.
Please take a few minutes before 5 p.m.on February 12,2026 to share your input. Comments will be shared with the City
Council before their retreat.

What would you like to see the City Council consider in their 2026 goal setting session?*
Here are my three suggestions:
1. Please allow the new Sustainability Program Manager to spend more than 50%of their time and effort on
Sustainability initiatives(i.e.regulation and eventual ban of gas-powered landscape equipment, reduction of
single use plastics at all city events especially the farmer's market(water fountains don't need cups), holding
Republican Services accountable for what is in their contract,esp around providing rate info to new residents-I
have confirmed this does not always happen).
2. I would also like any future library to be built in the downtown core,as is the case in all surrounding cities.
Sticking it on the outskirts to sell current site to private developers(read:cottage cluster Part Two)would be a
huge disappointment IF the library is not kept in the downtown core.
3. Finally, I have pictures of trees that were replanted by developers at the front of now almost treeless lots,that
have since been chopped down as the new McMansions were built or even before,while the lot sits vacant for
many years.This is not at all in the spirit of the tree code.As an example,visit the new homes/lots on the south
side of Atwater as it heads west from the Boca Ratan intersection.Just one replacement fir tree remains after at
least 10 were planted several years ago.The loss of Lake Oswego's mature tree canopy will lead to slow,
eventual decline in real estate values as we lose the natural cooling provided by these large trees in our
warming climate. Dogwoods and ornamental cherries won't do us any good. Please provide better enforcement
of replacement tree plantings once permits are approved.
