In preparation,the City Council would like to hear from the community. Please take a few minutes before 5 p.m.on February 12,2026 to share your input. Comments will be shared with the City Council before their retreat. Name Derrith Schmidt Neighborhood Old Town What would you like to see the City Council consider in their 2026 goal setting session?* Input for Recruiting a New City Manager As you recruit and hire our next City Manager, I encourage you to prioritize a leader with demonstrated success in the following areas: 1. Enterprise Leadership(Breaking Down Silos) We need a City Manager who has proven expertise in aligning departments to function as one cohesive organization rather than as independent silos.The candidate should demonstrate measurable results in cross- department collaboration,shared accountability,and unified strategic execution. 2. Proactive, Continuous Improvement Please seek a leader who embraces continuous improvement—not reactive fixes, but proactive systems thinking. Experience implementing performance management systems, process improvement initiatives,and measurable service enhancements should be evident. Both results and process matter. 3.Collaborative Governance The next City Manager must work effectively with Council,staff,community partners, neighboring jurisdictions, and taxpayers.The ability to build trust,communicate transparently,and engage stakeholders constructively is essential. 4. Customer-Centric Service Model City operations should reflect a service mindset. Look for a leader who prioritizes resident experience, accessibility, responsiveness,and measurable service standards. 5. High Integrity and Accountability Character matters.The candidate should have a strong reputation for ethical leadership,fiscal responsibility,and clear accountability. 6. Benchmarking and Best Practices Please prioritize someone who actively benchmarks against peer cities,adopts best practices,and uses data to drive decisions.We should not operate in isolation but continually learn from high-performing municipalities. Our community deserves leadership that integrates vision with disciplined execution, collaboration with accountability,and innovation with integrity.
