The City Manager Pro Tern has an employment agreement that states: "If, during the Interim Employment Period, the City Council approves and implements a different salary range for this position, then Employee's salary will be adjusted to an appropriate step within the new salary range. Employee acknowledges that any additional step increases, cost of living adjustments, salary range adjustments, and changes to benefits during the Interim Employment Period are subject to City Council approval." 503.635.0215 380 A Avenue PO BOX 369 Lake Oswego, OR 97034 www.lakeoswego.city Page 2 DISCUSSION The City Manager Pro Tern is currently paid at the top step of the former City Manager salary range and per the Employment Agreement, the City Manager Pro Tem's salary will be adjusted to an appropriate step within the new salary range. Based upon City Personnel Policy 3-3 Salary Administration, the employee's salary is determined by placing it within the new range to a step that is closest to, and above the employee's salary. Therefore, the City Manager Pro Tem's salary will change from Step 5 ($213,113.79 annually) to Step 3 ($223,256 annually). The former City Manager salary range is as follows: Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Annual $175,309.29 $184,071.60 $193,285.75 $202,973.85 $213,113.79 The adjusted City Manager salary range is as follows: Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Annual $202,500 $212,625 $223,256 $234,419 $246,140 Staff recommends this adjustment take place at the start of the next pay period which is May 16, 2026. FISCAL IMPACT The fiscal impact to this change is $10,142.21 per year and will be absorbed by the City Manager's Office budget. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,that: 1. The Council approves adjusting the City Manager Pro Tern compensation from $213,113.79 annually to $223,256 annually; and 2. This salary adjustment will take place at the start of the next pay period which is May 16, 2026. This Resolution shall be effective upon passage.
