BACKGROUND “Pro Tem” refers to someone serving temporarily. The Municipal Judge, appointed by the City Council, leads the municipal court. To keep Court business running smoothly when the Judge is unavailable, the Council has traditionally appointed a pool of pro tem judges, as allowed by the City’s Charter. 7.1 Page 2 503-635-0215 380 A AVENUE PO BOX 369 LAKE OSWEGO, OR 97034 WWW.LAKEOSWEGO.CITY DISCUSSION There is currently only one pro tem judge to fill in for the Municipal Judge. Staff recommends appointing one more, Kyndre Lundquist, who is qualified and willing to serve. FISCAL IMPACT This appointment will have no fiscal impact beyond what is already budgeted for pro tem judges. RECOMMENDATION Adopt Resolution 26-26, appointing Kyndre Lundquist as a Municipal Pro Tem Judge. ATTACHMENTS 1.Resolution 26-26 2.Resume of Kyndre Lindquist Resolution 26-26 Page 1 of 1 RESOLUTION 26-26 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE OSWEGO APPOINTING PRO TEM MUNICIPAL JUDGES WHEREAS, Section 22A of the Lake Oswego Charter authorizes the City Council to appoint one or more Pro Tem Municipal Judges, to serve when the Municipal Judge is unavailable; and WHEREAS, Section 22B of the Lake Oswego Charter provides that a Pro Tem Municipal Judge shall be a member of the Oregon State Bar and chosen without regard to political considerations and solely with reference to legal and administrative qualifications; and WHEREAS, there is currently a need to add qualified individuals as Municipal Judges Pro Tem to increase the pool of available pro tem judges; and WHEREAS, Municipal Judge Amy Lindgren has reviewed the legal and administrative qualifications of Kyndre Lundquist and has found them to be well-qualified, and recommends that they be appointed as Municipal Judge Pro Tem for the Lake Oswego Municipal Court; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lake Oswego that: Section 1. Kyndre Lundquist be appointed to the position of Municipal Judge Pro Tem. Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect upon passage.
