WHEREAS, the City of Lake Oswego is strengthened by the diversity of the people who live,
work, learn and gather in our community, and believe that every person deserves to feel safe,
valued and included; and
WHEREAS, June is recognized nationally as Pride Month, a time to acknowledge and celebrate
the history, culture, achievements, and lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals and
communities; and
WHEREAS, generations of LGBTQIA+ advocates and allies have worked to challenge
discrimination, expand civil rights protections and create visibility, acceptance, and opportunity
for future generations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lake Oswego is committed to cultivating a community where all people
are welcomed with dignity and respect, and where diversity is embraced as an essential part of
a vibrant and healthy civic life; and
WHEREAS, creating an inclusive community requires ongoing effort through education,
dialogue, partnership, and policies that promote equity, belonging, and opportunity for all
residents; and
WHEREAS, Pride Month is both a celebration of authenticity and self-expression and a reminder
of our shared responsibility to continue building a more compassionate, equitable and inclusive
future;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Lake Oswego City Council, do hereby proclaim
June 2026 as Pride Month in the City of Lake Oswego and encourage all community members to
celebrate the contributions of LGBTQIA+ individuals, support inclusion and belonging, and
reaffirm our collective commitment to equity, respect, and human dignity for all.
