Members: Joel Kuntz Stanley Martin Peggy Oliver Diana Davisson • Lloyd Millhollen Bill Ludders Michael Graves Marilyn McGriff Al Kauffman Marlin DeHaas, City Public Works Director presented planned sewer projects now under way & to be begun in near future. There were sixteen projects shown on a map of the area planned to be completed by 1979. He stated that when the whole area is sewered it will serve to population saturation, or up to 49,000 population for the Tryon Creek plant with an additional 10,000 when Bonita Meadows & Southwood Park areas added. At present we have a 20 year contract with the City of Portland for services which is up in 1883. He felt that the cost would ultimately be $220,000 -- it is now $110,000 annually. Our water system at this time will service about 25,000. There are projects presently under way which will take about 2 years to complete, so that by 1978, with the expanded service we will match population at about a 5.9% annual growth rate according to Mr. DeHaas. There is. a 'nater Study under way presently which is geared to population saturation of 70,000. This does include a little larger area than our present planning area, he said. Sub-Committee Reports & Discussion: Joel Kuntz reported that the Open Space committee was dealing more • with the philosophy of open space rather than with the distinctive areas "how many & how big" as he had thought. Cost Sub-Committee: See enclosure on Colorado Plan Summary & Conclusion. Dick Hutchison presented a "Shopping List of Facilities" to be considered. 1. A Government Center - which might include the Police Dept., office space for other city depts., fire services, etc. 2. Library (Present expansion should be adequate for 50,(7100 copulation) 3. Community Center - which might include a stage, art center, etc. (The group thought this might be an area where we could use public input. A volunteer was sought to study costs of this project, what alternatives there are to a center & if there is a need for one. ) L . Additional Recreational Facilities. 7. Municipal Parking. (Diana Davisson volunteered to look into future parking facilities needs & possible location.) Jeanne Robinette noted that there are factual findings and findings based on opinion. :Ie possibly need to look at our issues and decide which need facts and which need reasoned opinion & proceed with this in mind. Agenda for next week is for each member to bring well formulated questions to be presented at a public information forum & further reports from sub-committees..
