Permanent Art Collection Subcommittee
411/ Minutes of Meeting
April 25, 1994 7:30 PM
Lake Oswego Library
I. Roll Call
Members present were Chair Jean Suman, Dee Poth, Jeanne Radow, Gerald Bolas, Brian Diehm,
Carol Dickerson and Virginia Campbell. Jim Ponti was excused. The committee included members of
the standing Library Art Committee as well as additional appointees.
II. Minutes None
III. Open Public Communications
A. Oral Communications: The Chair gave a brief review of the subcommittee's
responsibilities and distributed copies of the Permanent Art Collection Policy and a listing of
the present Library and City Hall Art Collection.
B. Written Communication: None

V. New Business:
A. Funding of 1.5% has been established for the purchase of art for City buildings and qualified
projects.
B. Discussion was made of the distinction between art for permanent acquisition and
maintenance and art not intended for long-term display. The Subcommittee viewed the metal
wall sculpture by Clayton Hoffman which is temporarily being put on storage with other pieces
until it can be better placed. Members also examined the five panels by Kay Slusarenko and
decided to retain them in their present position and ask the artist to examine them further for
repair if necessary.
Projects for the future include more descriptive labeling and the design of accession and other
forms.
